Adega de Ponte da Barca e Arcos de Valdevez has just reinvented its main brand, inspired by the traditional Naperão, an essential element of Portuguese culture. After winning the hearts of Vinho Verde lovers with Vinhão and Grande Escolha, we are now celebrating the reunion of the entire Naperão family.

 

Adega de Ponte da Barca’s slogan is “The Origin Counts”… and this motto is evident from the provenance of the grapes, to the social and economic role it plays with winegrowers, to the promotion of Portuguese art and culture. It was with this motto in mind that we revisited an unavoidable reference of Portuguese culture for the new labels: the Naperão.

We are as proud of our history as we are of our present, which is why we have brought back the legacy of our mothers and grandmothers from the imagery of the 1960s and dressed part of our family in this decorative artifact to present the 15 bottles that give life to the Naperão line. We have already launched 7 banco wines, 3 red wines, 2 rosé wines and 1 sparkling wine. By the end of the year, an Aguardente Velha (Old Brandy) will be launched and, soon after, the 100% Vinhão Sparkling Wine will also be dressed in art.

These wines represent the most emblematic grape varieties of the Vinho Verde region, from the fragrant Loureiro grape to the complexity of Alvarinho and the intensity of Vinhão.

 

The Atlantic influence and granite soils give the wines their unmistakable minerality, aroma and elegance. We have consolidated our offer with an image that reflects the quality and authenticity of our natural, cultural and historical resources. We believe that our wine and Naperão harmonize as a symbol of tradition, sustained by the values of family, popular culture, know-how and work.

 

GAMES

Adega presents its Base range, with a white, a rosé, a red and a Grande Escolha.

It then groups the varietal wines in the Premium range, where it offers a Loureiro, an Arinto, a Loureiro-Alvarinho and its famous Vinhão.

The Reserva range is mainly for traditional Portuguese cuisine, with 3 very gastronomic wines: 100% Alvarinho with bottle aging, a 100% Vinhão with an innovative winemaking method (short, cold maceration that removes tannins and rusticity and gives it complexity and softness) and a Rosé that combines the elegance of Touriga Nacional with the fruit of Espadeiro, with bottle aging.

The Special range already has a Loureiro Bruto sparkling wine, which will be joined by the Vinhão Bruto sparkling wine and Aguardente Velha, which are undergoing “tastings” for the new outfit.

 

FUTURE PROSPECTS

As a result of its commitment to exports, the acquisition of new equipment and innovation, the winery achieved its highest ever turnover in September. Despite the turbulent year we’ve been experiencing, it expects overall growth for 2020 to exceed 10%. These figures reflect the result of the extraordinary teamwork of the 35 employees who have dedicated themselves to and cared for a unique wine-growing and cultural heritage since 1963, located in a unique territory crossed by the Lima, Vade and Vez rivers. Production currently stands at 4 million bottles a year, exported to 32 countries.

 

CAMPAIGN

To showcase these wines, Adega is presenting an unprecedented campaign in which the protagonists in the photo shoot and making-of video are four female collaborators: an oenologist, the quality director, the head of the laboratory and the line manager. Authenticity and quality are celebrated here, from the vineyard to your glass!
