Once upon a time...
… a brave young man called Afonso Henriques who, after invading Castile, saw the furious troops of his cousin Afonso VII retaliate. When everyone thought we were facing an imminent and bloody encounter, they decided to make a common agreement that became known as the Valdevez Recontro.
Celebrating our History and Identity
The Portuguese were victorious and the nationality of Portugal and the monarch were strengthened. To celebrate the Recontro de Valdevez of 1141, Barcos Wines and Arcos de Valdevez together with the town council of Arcos de Valdevez decided to produce this sparkling wine, Espumante Vez.
A dry and citrusy sparkling wine
Vez is made with 100% Bruto Loureiro grapes from vines over 15 years old and is the ideal companion for starters and light dishes such as fish, seafood and light meats. It has a very fine mousse in the mouth and floral aromas. It’s a drier, more citric and granitic sparkling wine that reminds us of the landscape of Minho.
